Designed by Trivonna

The Sullivans came to us with three major concerns about the layout of their existing kitchen:

1. He did most of the cooking, while she did the cleanup. With the sink and the stove set directly across from each other, they were experiencing traffic flow problems. Trivonna moved the sink away from the prep area and added a prep sink near the stove.

2. The Sullivans do a lot of entertaining. Their guests tended to clog up the one entrance/exit. Trivonna created a second passageway by changing the peninsula to an island.

3. They were not taking full advantage of the view of Puget Sound because the people sitting at the counter had their backs to the view. They were also sitting in a straight line making conversation difficult. Trivonna designed a 7X7 foot island with seating for three, two of which had somewhat of a view. The design also fostered conversation.

When the granite was being installed, Mrs. Sullivan called Trivonna, deeply concerned:

"This island is way too big! You could land a jet plane on it! I call it the Nimitz."

Trivonna reminded her that she had designed the kitchen for entertaining and told her that we would do whatever was necessary to please her, but would she please withhold judgment until after she had held a couple of parties.

Four weeks later, Mrs. Sullivan called back saying,
"I just love my Nimitz!!"
